Numbers Today

July 6, 2010 by becca

4: Miles I jogged today

15: Miles I’ve jogged this month

0: Miles I jogged pre-July this year (I know, right?)

40: Single-spaced pages I’ve rewritten through on the WIP

1: Basketball-game scene that needs finishing

3.5: Hours spent at the lake yesterday

60: Siblings, in-law siblings, parents and kids gathering this weekend for Family Reunion

Sixty.

1: Fairly cute Husband who just came and wrote sweet things on my blog (which yes, I saved, and no, you don’t get to see)

2: Piano lessons this morning

1: Kid getting “an appliance” at the orthodontist today – we’re all a little nervous about what that might actually mean. Is he going to put an ice-maker in her mouth? A microwave? Maybe a Cuisinart food processor? I could get behind that. I don’t have one of those.

2: Gallons of bleach it would take to clear the water in our backyard pool. Mmm, green water.

16: Times I nudged Husband at the lake yesterday and said, “Listen to this,” while reading “On Writing” by Stephen King

3: The number of Toy Story movies that I love

2: The number of Toy Story movies that brought actual tears to my eyes (2 and 3, for the record)

41: Degrees outside at my house yesterday morning when I went out for my little jog – not so much warm enough for the shorts-and-T-shirt casual jogger (but I survived)

0: phone numbers I know (since the demise of the cell phone, I have completely lost contact with my little corner of the world – and I used to think I had a good memory)

3: loads of laundry in my immediate future

15: minutes it will take me to start a batch of bread (including wheat-grinding time) – yes, I’m THAT girl

Toy Story 3 made me cry too. Sounds like you’re doing well.

You run, you publish novels, and you bake bread from scratch. How are you friends with the rest of us mere mortals?

And I had an orthodontic appliance as a young teen. It was every bit as gruesome as you’re imagining. It involved a bar all the way across my upper jaw that I expanded every day. I ended up with an inch-wide gap between my front teeth when it was done. Great for the self esteem of a teenager, I tell you.
