Sugar, Baby

It’s been a week. A week with no sugar.* I’m feeling really awesome. Mostly psychologically awesome, since I have come so far on my goal. But also physically awesome, because I love how my self feels without sugar.

And did you know that homemade hummus (with pita chips, with pretzels, with any kind of crunchy vegetable) is better than candy? It really is.

But somebody better get those Red Vines out of my pantry. Right now.

I mean it.

*You knew there would be a footnote here, didn’t you? Okay, I’m coming clean: I made the World’s Most Delectable salad dressing. It has sugar in it. However, I managed not to drink it with a straw. Also, yesterday morning, I finished off the bottled peaches after the kids left for breakfast. But I drained off the juice.

    Hmmm. A week without sugar? And why are you doing this, Becca? Is it to purge after you inhaled all the sweets in your house last week? I just downed a blondie. I eat too much sugar. Maybe I should try this. Is it really worth it?

    Ooh! I LOVE hummus. It’s so delicious. And pita chips (or even just pieces of pita baked in the oven) are the perfect addition. Have you had babaghanoush? It’s delicious too! And falafel, and curry, and…

    Oh good for you! Isn’t it amazing how good everything tastes when you detox from sugar for awhile? Mmm…I have peaches in the fridge right now. I think I know what I’m having for dessert tonight…

    I love hummus, too! And it’s ok to have those minor things like salad dressing w/ sugar. I think they make it more likely that you’ll stick with your plan than the “all or nothing” approach. Good luck!!
