Hello? National Weather Service?

November 24, 2010 by becca

Are you there? If you are, we need to talk. No, not really. Only I need to talk. You need to listen.

Are you listening, NWS?

You promised.

You said.

You guaranteed me the snowstorm of the century.

You used the word Blizzard.

You lied.

There was a teeeeeny bit of snow. A bit of wind. A lot of hype and very little delivery. Am I annoyed? Oh, you betcha.

I was prepared to be snowed in for at least three days. I even went to the store (along with everyone else in the Frozen Mountaintops) to get a bit of snackiness in the event (the Totally Probable Event) that we’d be without power for a few days and I wouldn’t be able to depend on fresh hot bread at my every whim. I was prepared to miss Thanksgiving dinner. I dusted off “A Christmas Carol,” all prepared to read by firelight, to ready my Kids for the best Christmas in living memory.

I was LOOKING FORWARD TO A SNOWSTORM. Do you know what a big deal this is, NWS?

Do you?

This never happens. I like Spring. I crave sunlight. I want to get out and mow the lawn. But yesterday, I was giddy at the thought of sinking into the couch with a heap of blankets and a box of Wheat Thins.

So, thanks a lot.

See if I ever listen to your dire, evil, false predictions again. Pooh.

The End.

I’m SO disappointed with this “blizzard.” I think I’ve seen powdered sugar do more damage than this. ;P

    AMEN!

    Exactly how I feel.

We can always hope that the next “blizzard” warning will actually bring us a blizzard. Of course, no one will listen to the warnings next time. 🙂

Yeah, they even shut down BYU and UVU as a precaution. Which, hey, no complaints, but it kind of cracked everyone up when we all found out that school and work got cancelled for nothing… 🙂

Love how L.T. put it. Powdered sugar. Hee hee.

So sorry for your disappointment! I just spent a week indoors because it’s been -24 celsius for several days. The first day was nice but it’s getting a bit old now.

Still, hope you get your snow day soon!

Blizzard – obvioiusly you don’t live at the foothills of the Oquirrh Mountains where the lake effect gave us more than enough snow, followed by more and more snow. The mounds are so high where we shoveled our front sidewalk that you can’t see most of the elementary school children as they walk past going to and from school (the school is in my backyard.) A wonderful neighbor used his snowblower to help keep that sidewalk cleared. He also dug out our mailbox.
I’m grateful that my disability keeps me from working so I was able to stay huddled up inside with several good books to read.
