Today I am profoundly grateful that I do not typically wake up with Guns ‘N Roses singing “Welcome to the Jungle” in my head.
Very often I have a song in my head when I wake up. Most often, it’s from a musical or some of the Kid faves, or possibly that march-y section from Mozart’s “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik” that has become our family song, with lyrics: “Please be nice, oh please, oh please be nice…” Not very often is it a song that plays mainly at demolition derby-type entertainments. Or maybe professional hockey games. (Both, by the way, places I’ve been in the past few years. And both, coincidently, places where I felt like I needed to have my passport stamped.)
But, even with The Jungle in my head, I plan for this to be a great day. Take that, Axl and Slash. [1]

I really thought I was the only one that woke up with weird pieces of music floating around my brain. Lately, it’s been a lot of Bach Double and “Oh My Father,” in stereo, both parts of course. It’s a little disconcerting to get up in the middle of the night and realize Ive been rehearsing in my head.
LOL. I’ve never woken up to that song. 😉 But I did wake up an hour early thinking I was late getting everyone up. Then I realized it was daylight savings. *Sigh* So I went back to bed.
You’re gonna dis Duff and Izzy and that other dude who’s name I can never remember?
Last time I woke up to GnR, I was probably in HS, going to two-a-days where it was actually playing: “We’ve been dancing with Mr Scalf-stone…”
Have even more respect for you now. And, if you haven’t been to the Oswego, NY, county fair/demolition derby while wearing designer jeans, you’ve never felt grossly out of place. Never was there a more appropriate place to play “Welcome to the Jungle”
