Hey, Kids: This just in. New favorite board game at the Wilhites’? Personal Scrabble.
You’ve probably seen Bananagrams (which makes me giggle with its cleverness) and other packaged Scrabble-type games, but here’s the drill, if you don’t know it:
Put all the letter tiles face down on the table. Put the board away, because you don’t need it. Everyone draws 7 tiles. Make words that cross over each other, down and sideways, just like Scrabble, except right in front of you. (You don’t play off each other’s words.) When someone uses all his tiles, he says, “Go” and everyone draws another tile. Repeat. Rearrange words and keep building more until all the tiles are gone. First person to finish, using all his tiles, calls the game. Then, if you’re the score-keeping type, add up points (number value on each tile) and compare great words.
Overheard at my house this weekend: “Nope. Sorry. There’s only one “S” in “Feces.”

Sounds fun! (And I thought that word had an “h” in it too, but I might be thinking of something else…)
We played a making-words game this weekend with the kids. My cute hubby kept making words up. We were so busy thinking of our next word, we didn’t noticed until the game was over. He’s so funny. =)
I need to spend less time reading more blogs and more time teaching my kids to read. I can’t wait till they’re old enough for such games!
I would try to talk Neil into playing with me but his eyes glaze over at the mention of the word scrabble…
I am going to have to propose this to the fam. We love word games.
We don’t even own Scrabble!!
Although we do have 2 versions of Boggle, which is another word game & so fun!
PS: I’m adding that movie (The Tiger & the Snow) to my movie list. Looks so good!!
