Spring is Springing

April 5, 2022 by becca

It’s kind of like a slinky — you think it’s fun until it rolls over and gets so tangled up that there is no conceivable way to make any sense of it at all.

Sunny days in the 70s, even here in the mountaintops.

Then we bounce down to the 40s (which, with wind like this current frozen torrent, feel far lower than 20).

A little rain.

A little snow.

Another thaw.

Grass turning from blonde to green around the edges.

Birds are back, and if their songs are any indication, they’re wondering what in the world happened.

Teenagers in my classroom — well, they’re pretty confused by life in general, and the springing doesn’t help. At all.

But before we even know it, it will be too hot to stand it outside, and the mountains here and in every state for hundreds of miles around will be on fire, and by the time they’re under control, the leaves will have fallen and we’ll start winter over again.

So I’m trying to enjoy the bounce.
