We’re reviewing “To Kill a Mockingbird” in class right now. One of the questions I’m asking is “good guy or bad guy?” and it’s hard for them to decide. This makes me very happy.. Good characters, like actual humans, have both light and shadow. But we gauge goodness regardless. We give good-guy status to flawed people, and for this I am grateful.
