Here is what I’ve decided to Gift myself for the New Year (see also: Resolutions, and how to not fear them).
The Gift of Compassion: I will be kind to myself. I will treat myself gently. I will speak to and about myself the way I’d speak to and about someone I love.
The Gift of Words: I will write. I want to write every day, but I’d really like to not beat myself up if that doesn’t happen. I will aim for 1,000-1,500 every day. In addition, I want to write letters. Many of them. I will also read. Books. Articles. Blog posts. Essays. Words, words, words.
The Gift of Health: I will fill my body with healthful foods. I will move sufficiently. I will build strength. I will avoid the things that only my mouth (and not my body) craves.
The Gift of Connection: I will take time daily, weekly, and monthly to connect with the people I love and want to know better.
